Book Review: Throne of Glass

I thought today was a perfect day to review a new delightful read, Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas.  To say I loved Throne of Glass would be an understatement and in a sense a slight to author, Sarah Maas.  This book was an extraordinary read.  Right from the beginning our main character, Celaena Sardothien, grabs your attention with her quick wit and a strange offer from the King too good to refuse delivered by a handsome Crown Prince.

Written off and thrown in the mines of Endovier to rot away, nothing more than a mere teenager.  Celaena is one day drug from the depths of her hell and in front of the Crown Prince.  Celaena is given the opportunity to win her freedom, thanks to the Crown Prince choosing to place his bet on her.  All Celaena must do to win her freedom is compete against twenty-three killers, thieves, and warriors and defeat her competition.  Easy enough right?  However, when she is released from servitude in the mines she will sign a contract to serve as the King’s Champion, before she will truly be free.  Still sounding like a breeze, am I right?  Things are not always as simple as they seem.  A lesson Celaena quickly learns when she discovers that an evil force dwells inside the castle with all intentions set upon murder and when her competition becomes its prey one by one Celaena finds herself with her own secret mystery to solve who or what is killing everyone and how is she supposed to keep everyone safe before her and her whole world is lost?  A question Celaena answers with style and flair.

Throne of Glass was such a great read I did not hesitate before running out to my nearest Books-A-Million and grabbing the second book in the series, Crown of Midnight.  If you are a fantasy fan then be sure to grab this book for a good time!
